Âé¶čAV’s annual Valley First New York New Year's event is back for its 11th year, offering a family-friendly way to celebrate the New Year.

The free event will take place at Stuart Park on Dec. 31, from 6 to 9 p.m.

“We’re so pleased to welcome our community and their holiday guests to join us in Stuart Park again for a rockin’ New Year’s Eve,” said Renata Mills, Executive Director of Festivals Âé¶čAV. “With the rising cost of living taking a toll on people’s wallets, free events like ours filled with incredible entertainment and activities will give our community an affordable way to gather and welcome a new year full of possibility.”

Thanks to sponsors like Valley First, the City of Âé¶čAV, and other partners, the event is free to attend.

The evening will feature:

  • Skating on Stuart Park’s ice rink;
  • Drop-in games and activities in the Kiwanis Club of the Central Okanagan Snow Zone;
  • Thousands of free glow sticks and face painting for kids;
  • Food trucks offering warm drinks, mini donuts, hot dogs, and more.

Live music will help keep the energy high throughout the evening:

  • 6 p.m., Homestretch Band will perform classic rock with a country twist;
  • 7 p.m., Rule 857 will play hits from the ‘60s to the ‘80s;
  • 8 p.m., Groovalicious will entertain with funk, disco, and dance hits.

The event will wrap up with a fireworks display at 9 timed to match New York City’s New Year’s countdown. Mayor Tom Dyas and Simon Mills, President of Valley First, will lead the countdown. The fireworks, launched from City Park’s northwest point, can be viewed along the waterfront from The Sails to the Âé¶čAV Yacht Club.

“This event wouldn’t be possible without the tremendous support from our partners and sponsors,” said Mills.
