Royal Canadian Legion 26 in Âé¶čAV has donated $3,000 to the Central Okanagan Community Foodbank.

The money will be split evenly between the Âé¶čAV and West Âé¶čAV locations.

“We wanted to designate them
we wanted it (the donation) to be in our areas,” said Linda Mitchell, Legion acting president.

She said it’s important for the Legion to give back to the community.

“We try and support anyone that needs help and we have a certain amount of money that we can give each year.”

The Legion is also in need of some help.

“We still need some volunteers to go out and do the poppy campaign,” Mitchell added. “There are certain spots where we still need volunteers.”

Legion branches across the country take part in the poppy campaign and donations are held in trust at the branch level to support veterans and their families within their respective communities.

Poppies are worn every year from the last Friday in Oct. to Nov 11 by millions of Canadians.

Anyone interested in volunteering during the poppy campaign in Âé¶čAV can call 250-762-2961.
