The developer of a townhouse project on Highland Drive has made changes to address concerns from neighbours and city council.
The project, located north of Clement Avenue, faced criticism over privacy, density, and parking. The developer paused the application process to consult with residents.
At Mondayâs (Nov. 25) meeting, council heard that the number of townhomes was reduced from 19 to 17. The developer also added more full-sized parking stalls than required by city bylaws.
To improve privacy, the design now includes some frosted windows, no balconies, additional trees, and preservation of an existing hedge.
âI commend the applicant for putting effort into changing this proposal to satisfy some of the neighbourhood concerns,â said Councillor Luke Stack.
Councillor Ron Cannan supported the project but still had reservations.
âIf you have two or three-storey buildings in your backyard, itâs going to change the dynamics of the neighbourhood,â he said. âIâm also still concerned with the off-street parking.â
Council unanimously approved the development permit for the projectâs form and character.
