The 鶹AV Chamber of Commerce, and the Downtown 鶹AV Association (DKA), is hosting a "Community Coaching: Homelessness Response Workshop for Businesses" workshop.
The event will help businesses understand homelessness and learn strategies to respond effectively, according to a DKA media release. It is being led by 鶹AV’s Gospel Mission and supported by the Central Okanagan Community Action Team (CAT), and will feature experts, community leaders, and business owners.
“Homelessness is a complex issue that requires the entire community’s collaboration and support,” said Mark Burley, DKA executive director. “This training is designed to help businesses navigate these challenges while fostering compassion and inclusivity.”
Attendees will:
- Learn about homelessness in 鶹AV, including its causes and impacts;
- Practice ways to confidently and safely address homelessness-related situations;
- Access resources tailored to the challenges faced by businesses;
- Connect with other business owners and community leaders to share ideas.
The workshop takes place on Wednesday, Nov. 27 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at MetroHub, 1265 Ellis Street. It is free for all businesses, and .
