West Âé¶čAV residents will soon have a clearer picture of the final cost of the new city hall.

“A complete and final accounting of the city hall project should be done by the end of January,” Chief Financial Officer Warren Everton told council during budget deliberations on Dec. 19.

The building, which opened in May, currently carries a price tag of $22.79 million—well above its original $18 million budget. Construction delays and supply chain disruptions extended the project timeline.

Council also heard that in council chambers. Another $85,000 will go toward designing parking lot improvements. Both projects will be funded through the city’s capital reserves.

Staff also requested $278,000 to replace outdated audio and visual equipment in council chambers. This equipment had been brought over from the former municipal facility at the Mount Boucherie Community Centre.

“It is getting outdated and in need of replacement,” Everton explained. “We’ve had certain issues with it since we’ve brought it here.”
