The Okanagan's first accessible playground is about to turn one and the first permanent StoryWalk is being launched to celebrate.
The Central Okanagan Early Years Partnership and Partners for Literacy Committee is hosting a celebration at Julia's Junction on July 27 from 1-3 p.m.
During the party, the year-round StoryWalk will be shared. The story is 'I Can Too!' by Karen Autio and illustrated by Lauren Watson and has a focus on inclusivity and diversity.
âProject Literacy has been delighted to play a lead role in developing and launching the first permanent StoryWalkÂź in the Okanagan! We couldnât have done this without the support of COEYP, the City of West Âé¶čAV, funding from West Âé¶čAV Rotary, and the support of Juliaâs Junctionâs Founder, Melissa Grassmick,â said Project Literacy Executive Director Paul Zuurbier.
StoryWalk combines literacy and adventure by guiding participants through a picture book story in sequence outside. Temporary StoryWalks have been hosted throughout the Central Okanagan since 2020.
