The Callahan Property Group has donated $200,000 to Okanagan College’s (OC) Thrive Here campaign.
The funds will help build a new Recreation and Wellness Centre at the 鶹AV campus.
“We are thrilled to support this centre,” said Bruce Callahan, president of the family-run company. “I am an Okanagan College alumni and knowing that community and students will have a place to connect and belong really resonated for us. We want to ensure students can learn, play, prosper and thrive here.”
The donation will go toward the centre’s atrium entrance. The facility is expected to open in fall 2026.
Pam Prentice, development officer with the Okanagan College Foundation, says the donation is a big boost.
“It’s inspiring for students to know a local company like the Callahan Property Group is investing in their health and well-being,” she said. “Their donation is going to support student success and it’s also going to help people in the KLO neighbourhood connect and stay active.”
Thanks to the Callahans’ generosity, the campaign is now just $800,000 away from its $14-million goal.
The Thrive Here campaign launched in 2023 with a $5 million gift from the Don Folk family. Since then, support has poured in from individuals and local businesses. The facility is named after the Don Folk family.
A recent partnership between the City of 鶹AV and OC will also open the centre’s doors to the wider public.
