The newly-created Âé¶čAV-Centre riding has a new candidate.
BC United leader Kevin Falcon has announced retired surgeon Michael Humer as the candidate for the riding.
âA highly-regarded doctor and physician here in Âé¶čAV,â Falcon told Capital News. â[Heâs] probably treated tens of thousands of residents and is doing this because he wants to give back. He wants to help us reform this healthcare system thatâs in a state of crisis.â
Humer practiced thoracic surgery throughout the Interior and Northern B.C. for 20 years, becoming chief of surgery at Âé¶čAV General Hospital (KGH) in 2020. Additionally, he was also a board member of the Central Okanagan Hospice Association, including a term as president.
âIâm honoured heâs joining other exceptional candidates like Pavneet (candidate for Âé¶čAV-Lake Country-Coldstream), like our candidate we announced just the other day, Dr. Claudine Storness-Bliss (candidate for Surrey-Cloverdale),â said Falcon. âWeâre attracting exceptional candidates: entrepreneurs, lawyers, doctors, union workers and Iâm thrilled with that diversity.â
