UPDATE: Crash cleared on Highway 97 at Vaseux Lake north of Oliver

Drivers are being told to bypass the scene by travelling through Willowbrook instead

A motor vehicle incident has closed down traffic in both directions on Highway 97 at Vaseux Lake north of Oliver on July 3. Drivers are being told to detour through Willowbrook.

UPDATE: 3:30 p.m.

The motor vehicle incident that closed down traffic on Highway 97 north of Oliver has been cleared according to DriveBC.

The Oliver Fire Department has moved from responding to the crash to tackling a grass fire near the Welcome to Oliver sign.

Traffic was closed down and backed up for more than an hour while crews worked to clear the crash scene near Sundial Road. 


ORIGINAL STORY:

A motor vehicle incident has closed down traffic in both directions on Highway 97 just outside Oliver. 

The Oliver Fire Department said in a post to social media that the crash occurred near Sundial Road and that they are working to secure the scene.

Drivers are instead being advised to take an alternate route through Willowbrook to bypass the crash. 

Emergency resources from Âé¶¹AV have also been called to respond to the scene. 

It is not clear how long the road may be closed.

People on social media have posted photos showing traffic backed up along the highway.
