A Winnipeg musician and beloved star of a more than 1,000-episode CBC kids television series is coming to the Okanagan.
Children's entertainer Fred Penner, 78, will perform at the Penticton Peach Festival on Sunday, Aug. 10
“Fred Penner isn’t just a performer, he’s part of Canadian childhoods,” said Chuck Thompson, vice president of Peachfest. “So many people grew up watching him crawl through that hollow log on Fred Penner’s Place and now they’re introducing his music to their own kids."
Penner, an inductee of the Order of Canada, will headline Valley First Kiddies Day at this year's Peachfest inside Okanagan Lake Park.
The singer-songwriter, actor, and author was the star of Fred Penner’s Place, which aired on CBC from 1985 to 1997. Penner has also notched four Juno awards.
His show in Penticton, presented by Patan Heating and Cooling Ltd., is free to attend and runs from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
"This is going to be a really special experience for families and people of all ages," Thompson said.
Kiddies Day kicks off the final day of Peachfest 2025. Festivities begin with the Minuteman Press Kiddies Day parade and an afternoon of entertainment in Okanagan Lake Park, including a performance from 鶹AV magician Leif David.
A full schedule for the festival, which runs from Aug. 6 to 10, can be viewed at
