Celebrate Âé¶čAV's music scene with 2 nights of incredible talent

Performances are Feb.7-8 at the Mary Irwin Theatre

The Rotary Centre for the Arts (RCA) and Creative Okanagan are celebrating Âé¶čAV talent.

Graham Ord Blues Revue will perform at the Mary Irwin Theatre on Friday, Feb. 7. Ord is a British-Canadian award-winning singer songwriter, guitarist, and producer. The band draws from diverse influences within blues, soul, and gospel. The James Hay Blues Band, based out of Âé¶čAV, will open the show. The trio performs a mix of swampy delta slide, jump blues, jive, swing, and boogie.

Down The Lees, which has roots in Vancouver, Belgium and the Okanagan, is a post-noise-rock trio. Their performance, on Saturday, Feb. 8 at Mary Irwin Theatre, will be filmed and recorded for a live album, funded by Creative BC.

They share the stage with indie rock band Nightshades. The foursome is described as “a Beatles-esque timeshare of vibrant music with a psychedelic flourish.

“The impressive musical excellence taking the stage over these two nights, featuring all local musicians, is a point of pride for our community,” said Karma Lacoff Nieoczym, executive director, Creative Okanagan. “Community members who enjoy rock or blues, but haven’t yet discovered these artists, are sure to discover their amazing talents and become new fans.”
