The individuals appointed to the Community Task Force on the Performing Arts will be unveiled at the next 鶹AV council meeting

“So what’s happening on Monday (Oct. 30) I will announce the task force members,” said Mayor Tom Dyas. “The first meeting we will have I believe is Jan. 24.”

The formation of a task force was announced earlier this year.

“Once you see the membership you’ll know that there is a diverse make-up of individuals who have knowledge in the are of the arts and what it should look like for this community,” Dyas added.

The mayor said all the work done in the past by other groups and individuals will be respected as the task force does its work.

鶹AV’s Citizens for a New Performing Arts Centre (KCNPAC) has been asking the city to address the need for a new facility for years.

“They have representation on the board,” Dyas said. “With the amount of work they’ve looked at doing, how important it is to them, there is no way I would advance this without their representation.”

In April, the city set aside $1 million for the feasibility, consultation and design of a new centre in its 10-Year Capital Plan.
