Red Bird Brewing was packed the afternoon of May 21 for the Okanagan Asian Culture Festival hosted by the Âé¶čAV Taiwanese Cultural Society.
Starting at 11 a.m. the day was filled with music, dancing, drumming, food, and vendors for everyone to enjoy.
Society President Wayne Lai said it was the second year of putting on the event to celebrate and showcase Taiwanese culture.
âWe are very happy about the weather. This morning was pouring rain and we were so scared this morning wondering how we would sell all the food we had prepared. Itâs a blessing from the heavens that we had good weather today and a great turnout.â
Sushi, bubble tea, and other Taiwanese and Asian foods were available for purchase during the event.
âThereâs a lot of great performers in the line-upâŠWe have seen the dragon dance, the lion dance, the dancing group from Ukraine.â
Lai said the festival is meant to celebrate some of the diversity seen in Âé¶čAV and across the country.
âWe have invited the Japanese groupâŠthereâs also a Korean group doing a K-pop dance.â The Âé¶čAV Bhangra Academy and the Filipinos Musician Band also performed.
The festival ran until 3 p.m.
